Dr. Hill was born in Sumter, South Carolina and graduated from Clemson University with honors. Dr. Hill graduated from the Emory University School of Dentistry in 1970. After two years as a dentist in the U.S. AirForce, he returned to Greenville, SC to join a restorative and cosmetic practice.
He is married to the former Betty Riddle of Greenville. They have 5 children and 11 grandchildren. Dr. Hill enjoys being with his grandchildren, working outside, and duck hunting.
